Vault Strategies is a leader in healthcare cost containment and self-funded insurance solutions, serving employers, brokers, and partners across the country. We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Accountant with deep knowledge of the self-funded healthcare and stop loss insurance industry to join our team in Phoenix.
Position Summary:
The Accountant plays a key role in managing financial reporting, plan funding reconciliation, and vendor payments for our health care plans and programs. This individual must be highly analytical, organized, and proficient in Excel and data systems. A strong understanding of TPA operations, stop loss contracts, and healthcare funding models is highly desired.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and maintain accurate financial reports related to self-funded health plans, stop loss premiums, and vendor payments
Reconcile funding reports, claims data, and plan performance metrics on a monthly and quarterly basis
Analyze plan funding against claims activity to ensure accuracy and compliance
Track and report stop loss reimbursements, premium payments, and reimbursements received
Collaborate with account managers and risk team to support client reporting and renewals
Maintain data accuracy across financial systems and support audits or reviews as needed
Monitor trends and assist with forecasting and budgeting for client health plan performance
Utilize advanced Excel functions (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, conditional formatting, etc.) to manage and analyze large datasets
Ensure all accounting and financial processes are aligned with industry compliance standards and internal protocols
Qualifications:
3–5 years of accounting or financial analysis experience, preferably in healthcare, insurance, or third-party administration (TPA)
Strong understanding of self-funded health plans, stop loss contracts, and claims funding
Advanced proficiency in Excel and financial reporting tools
Exceptional attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills
Ability to analyze data and communicate financial insights clearly to non-financial stakeholders
Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams, including client service and risk management
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required
